U.S. Businesses Struggling and Closing, Raising Taxes On Them is Economic Suicide!
I just can’t imagine how anyone with the ability for logical thought can think it’s a good idea to raise taxes on businesses right now (or ever). Consider these recent facts:
#1 Sears lost 580 million dollars in the fourth quarter of 2015 alone, and they are scheduled to close at least 50 more “unprofitable stores” by the end of this year.
#2 It is being reported that Sports Authority will file for bankruptcy in March. Some news reports have indicated that around 200 stores may close, but at this point it is not known how many of their 450 stores will be able to stay open.
#3 For decades, Kohl’s has been growing aggressively, but now it plans to shutter 18 stores in 2016.
#4 Target has just finished closing 13 stores in the United States.
#5 Best Buy closed 30 stores last year, and it says that more store closings are likely in the months to come.
#6 Office Depot plans to close a total of 400 stores by the end of 2016.
The next seven examples come from one of my previous articles…
#7 Wal-Mart is closing 269 stores, including 154 inside the United States.
#8 K-Mart is closing down more than two dozen stores over the next several months.
#9 J.C. Penney will be permanently shutting down 47 more stores after closing a total of 40 stores in 2015.
#10 Macy’s has decided that it needs to shutter 36 stores and lay off approximately 2,500 employees.
#11 The Gap is in the process of closing 175 stores in North America.
#12 Aeropostale is in the process of closing 84 stores all across America.
#13 Finish Line has announced that 150 stores will be shutting down over the next few years.
The United States, with the HIGHEST CORPORATE TAX RATE ON EARTH is LOSING JOBS hand over fist as businesses leave the country for less oppressive countries in terms of taxes or simply go bankrupt. Money is money. Call it taxes, rent, debt, losses, whatever, it all adds up and all hurts and when the government is already taking 40%+. Just DO THE MATH.
If you don’t own a business, you don’t know but you can do math. A company in the United States, currently paying the highest corporate tax rate ON EARTH, is at a tremendous disadvantage over companies paying many times 20% less. If you think that it doesn’t matter, would you be able to keep your lifestyle if you suddenly lost 40% of your income? Would you be able to hire a person to cut your grass or build an add-on to your house? Why? Simple math. It applies to businesses as well no matter how much you like Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton. Forget about parties and who you think it on “your team.” We’ve got to get past that mentality.
If we elect someone like Bernie Sanders (or Hillary) who wants to raise taxes on businesses and on people EVEN THOUGH U.S. businesses are ALREADY paying the highest tax rates on earth AND the taxes you and I paid in were at RECORD amounts the last several years in a row – it would be economic suicide!
Again, this isn’t politics, this is our livelihood as a country, as a people. And we should be in shock that any serious presidential candidate would want to raise taxes on businesses or on people. The government has taken in RECORD tax amounts the last several years. The answer is not to give these corrupt, drunken-spending politicians more of our money. No WAY! We should demand they be better stewards of what we spend our lives working for and that they not further cripple our economy. We should lower taxes across the board for businesses and people. It’s just math!
Take a look at all the jobs that are being lost by these major businesses, the money that has been lost due to the fact that U.S. businesses can’t be competitive internationally because of the tax rate here versus the rest of the world. It’s just math and the fact that we shouldn’t have to tolerate a wasteful government pillaging our incomes when it’s already taking in record tax revenues. Heck, we shouldn’t ever have to put up with it period.
When the people lose their money and the government controls it, the people lose their power (money is power). Who in their right mind would want to give even more of our power to the government? We ought to go back to the notion we were founded on of a government, “of the people, by the people and for the people.” Instead, we are currently oppressed by a government who thinks we exist for them. A far cry from our founding. Fight back!
