Senate Democrats Oppose ‘Audit Fed’ Bill
According to the statements of democrats on the Senate Banking committee made to Reuters, they are united in opposition to a bill proposed by Senator Rand Paul that would force the U.S. Federal Reserve to undergo a government audit.
One example is Sherrod Brown of Ohio who is the top Democrat on the committee. His spokeswoman stated his opposition to the bill.
Other committee members who have stated opposition to the bill include committee member Jack Reed, a democrat from Rhode Island, and likely democrat presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren according to spokespersons for each.
A full government audit would expose the monetary policy decisions and discussions of the Federal Reserve to the American people in addition to congress.
